Trefor Academy follows the CAPS curriculum for Grade R. This is in accordance with the Department of Education and the government school’s educational standards and requirements to ensure that children are properly prepared for Grade 1.
The CAPS curriculum puts strong emphasis on the development of Literacy, Mathematics and Life Skills. We provide children with the opportunity to experience a rich language environment by hearing stories, singing songs and participate in rhymes. This is to ensure that your little one will develop self-confidence, skills on how to speak, express themselves, and to actively listen when communicating. We also ensure that our activities are both active and interactive. This way we can develop their co-ordination, control, and movement skills. In Grade R we also teach them how to link sounds and letters together and to read and write.
School readines tests for Grade R are normally done in July.
The Grade R graduation ceremony is usually a high light at the end of the year for the little ones.
